The iPad 1, the HDMI connection, and BBC iPlayer?

Im looking into this HDMI output connector, and I can see that it does not support the full display mirroring functionality that it does on the iPad 2.

Some apps, such as Keynote and youtube are supported but not all apps.

Does anybody,probably somebody who is probably more educated in the app building process, know if it will be possible for this to come to other apps if the developer wanted it to?

Im mainly thinking of BBC iPlayer.
