I'm very surprised of how the device cools itself.. so thin, so small and i never notice any warm coming from the device. I've played extensive 3D games for hours and never notice anything! I love it!

It is a cool device! of that the majority agree!

(still having to wait for Xmas day, wife will not let me near it).

It got no retina, Ipad 2 is running very cool too.

Even my previous Ipod touch 4 with retina got warm in the back after long gaming.

You poor person! Though I am doing something similar to my partner for her mini, but she has a iPad 2 in the mean time, which will be returned to Apple before Christmas in exchange for Apple vouchers!

I never really noticed if my iPad 1 got overly warm so to that point it wasn't something I also noticed about my iPad Mini.

It was the ipad 3 and now 4'th gen that bumped up the heat, but yeah the Mini even after a session of Modern Combat 3 is a pleasantly cool little number :)
