This model is already looking like the black sheep of the 2025 lineup. I can’t see one thread about it!

My question is regarding the main camera Zooms.

It seems there’s a discrepancy in Apple’s specs - one line doesn’t mention 5x Optical Zoom when another does.

So does this model have 5x Optical zoom or not?

There is no 5x optical zoom. It’s a typo.
Ahh that's disappointing. But at least it gets Macro. That'll come in handy for me.

I honestly think the 17 is by far the best bang for your buck for all the new phones.
Looks good. I guess the Plus model phones didn't sell well enough, so Apple replaced it with an inferior specced model thinking the weight/screen will have the same appeal. They've tried to merge the Plus & Mini in one. It's a mutation that may or may not work...

17 is the star of the new iPhone lineup for me. That's why I choosed it after having always Pro models (expect one time I had a plus, was a good phone but really to big for me)

Those camera zooms on the Pro though 😭

If I had the option, the smaller Pro is my ideal 17, but the 17 will have to do.

Yeah. If the regular 17 had wide+telephoto, I wouldn't bother going for the Pro.

The regular 17 is an especially great value this year.

Interesting observation.

There still seems to be quite a bit of stock of the Air, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max available for pickup in the 12 Apple Stores near me (granted, color and storage options are limited). However, the iPhone 17 is only available in like 2 stores now.

Always had base model iPhones had looked at getting the pro this time round but seeing as the base model has most of the pro features looks like I’ll stick with the base model only choice I need to make is do I go for sage or black once I make it to the apple store and see it in person

I almost always get the Pro since they canceled the mini iPhones and got the base 17 today. Feels nice and doesn’t get too hot.

that’s my main reason i want to upgrade … my 15pro constant overheat. is the 17 better in this regard? how’s battery?

I’ve only had it for a few hours so can’t really say for the battery.

As far as heat goes it got a bit hot while doing the transfer and installing apps. After that with just some browsing and music it’s nice and cool.

From where I am in the UK (London), there seems to be availability differences depending on the colour of the iPhone 17 you want.

Black and misty blue seem to be available. If you want a white iPhone, there does not seem to be availability anywhere, unless you go for the 512GB option.
