...so stupid. There IS no winner. Its like arguing Mercedes is better than BMW or Lexus. It all comes down to your want and needs, personal preference.

Seriously, why does this post even exist.

You should be neutered so you stop contaminating the gene pool

Iphone is a handset, Android is an OS. Like apples and oranges.

Yet Android phones are perfectly poised to try and overtake Apple, so it's a perfectly acceptable comparison. Apple continually cites statistics on iPhone usage vs. Android as a whole. Are you the guy that tells people that Macs are PC's? :p

I understand that, but no one person can declare a winner, its stupid. The Ford Mustang and The Chevy Camaro are both similar cars trying to overtake one another. Sure, a person can say one is better than the other and list a bunch of reasons they think that while another person may not care about most of those reasons, and they prefer the other car. At the end of the day, there is not clear winner. Its all what the individual prefers.

Oh, I understand that completely. I'm friends with a bunch of people that love Android and we have friendly debates all the time, and I know that they simply prefer it. I just think it's a reach to say that you can't compare them because one's a phone and one's an operating system.

I disagree.

Yeah I agree with this guy to a certain extent, when Comparing a Ferrari to a Nissan, just because you don't have needs to drive a Ferrari around doesn't mean it's not better.

But like all X v X debates, it will never stop unfortunately.

PS: iOS is obviously better :D

Only in an Apple forum, does one see these juvenile remarks. It's rather entertaining. Personal attacks are encouraged. People who post honest questions & comments are accused of being trolls.

Other forums welcome all newcomers. Here they are rebuffed. It's like grade school. It also speaks volumes about Apple Culture.

Clearly, you don't visit very many forums.

Apple Culture, no. MacRumors Culture, definitely. There are plenty of Mac/Apple forums where ad-hominem attacks are rare. Don't confuse the two. I'm sure a Google search would also reveal some forum where people are demeaning Apple users. It's not black hat - white hat.

MR is probably one of the largest, maybe the largest, Mac info sites and forums. It attracts a wide international demographic -- different ages, maturity levels, upbringings, etc. That is why the forums look like such a stew.

No, his objection was valid. "iPhone vs. Evo" is correct because you're comparing a phone to a phone. "iOS vs. Android" is correct because you're comparing an operating system to an operating system. "iPhone vs. Android" is nonsensical because you're trying to compare a phone to an operating system.

It's not like "saying macs are PCs" because they really are, it's just a different name. Android is not a phone.

Even if you want to use the argument: "well, you know what they mean, Android-based phones", it still doesn't make sense. "iPhone" refers to a single device. "Android-based phones" are many devices. How can you compare one to many? Pick and choose the best features from all android phones? That hardly seems fair...

Don't paint all Apple forums with such a broad brush. I'm a mod on another iPhone forum that actively discourages personal attacks.
