Hi all

Bought a new MacBook Air, M3, running 15.3. Two other Macs, two iPads and an iPhone sharing the iCloud photo library without issue. Since the Air was delivered have received this error trying to open photos. Have tried re-installing Mac OS, same issue remains. Have logged out of iCloud two or three times, the first couple of times the switch to turn photos on wouldn't switch on. Then finally it has and shows the correct number of items but the photos app still has the same error. Would appreciate any assistance with this issue, cheers

Cheers, should have said I have tried that, made no difference unfortunately, same result

It sounds like you are using iCloud photo library (ie: all photos safely up in icloud, all devices show that library). But on your brand new macbook, theres' this error. I'd suggest deleting the photo library completely on that macbook air (~user/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary). then run photos and let it create a NEW library. In the settings for Photos make sure iCloud Photos is checked, then the Optimize Photo Library (unless you want and have the space to mirror the entire library). It will redownload/sync the icloud library as if from scratch and the error shouldn't be an issue.
