There's an awful lot of folks asking what card to get for the MacPro that they have. I wanna make an almighty index thread that contains ALL possible combinations. It shouldn't really be that long of a list (maybe 50 entries total at most?). So what I need from you follows; (Answer only the ones you know):

Maker:
Model No.:
Part No.:
Card Name:
Mac Pro Model (1,1 2,0 3,0 4,0 etc.):
OS Version Tested:
Needs ROM Flashed:
(if yes) URL To ROM File:
Caveats:

Where "Caveats" is any short note(s) like: "Does not support dual monitor" or etc.

I will continually update this post and the one following it as you add new cards to the list - so it will be easy to see the whole list in one post. ;)

- Thanks!

PS: If you would like to cull information from various scattered posts to enter here just make sure it actually worked for the guy. ;)

well the 8800gt aint that interesting, and apart from that, only 4870 and 4890 can be modified, and both have their own "Compatible Cards" thread.

So you decided to poo-poo my thread idea? Those compatible card threads are messy and hard to scan through! And this is for ALL cards, not just 8800s... :p

Maker: ATi
Part No.: MB999ZM/A
Card Name: Radeon HD 4870
Mac Pro Model: MacPro3,1
OS Version Tested: Mac OS X 10.5.8, Mac OS X 10.6.0, Mac OS X 10.6.1
Needs ROM Flashed: NO
Caveats: No 2 mini DisplayPorts. Would be nice to be able to connect two 24" LED Displays.

I updated the GeForce 8800 GT to this Radeon HD 4870 for two reasons:
1. Able to connect a 24" Apple LED Display, and
2. Better gaming performance.
