On this week's episode of The MacRumors Show, we discuss the imminent Apple product "launch" that is widely expected to be the fourth-generation iPhone SE.

In a social media post on Thursday, Apple CEO Tim Cook teased an upcoming "launch" of some kind scheduled for Wednesday, February 19. "Get ready to meet the newest member of the family," he said, with an #AppleLaunch hashtag. The post includes a short video with an animated Apple logo inside a circle.

We analyze the possibilities for the announcement and why it's most likely to be a new iPhone SE, with rumored features including the A18 chip, a larger 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, a USB-C port, Apple Intelligence support, and more. The launch of other new devices, such as the M4 MacBook Air, also appear to be right around the corner.

We also discuss Apple's new Powerbeats Pro 2 earphones, which tout Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) with Transparency mode, Personalized Spatial Audio, an H2 chip for improved power efficiency and Apple ecosystem integration, and Heart Rate Monitoring–a first time for an Apple audio product. We talk through the utility of the heart rate monitoring feature, fit, and how they compare to the AirPods Pro 2.

The conjecture about the IPad Air possibly going to M4 has a lot good points. Most would prefer to buying that $600 iPad instead of the pro which would greatly change how iPads are chosen. Apple does want to get everyone to M4 not the assumed M3 that is rumored. Hope the m4 updated MBAs show also, no need to keep dragging out these updates with the SE announcement being a big draw on Wednesday launch.

Yeah. I agree with what you have said.

Perhaps they'll start a new branding of the SE and just call it the iPhone Air (although I guess that is the plan for the Iphone 17 no?)

The new product is the first apple doorbell. with an M2 and Siri AI integration.
me: hey siri, open the door ……………

They don't use the phrase "produce Launch" and then have it retweeted by Elon Musk to announce a new iPhone SE, unless coming with that announcement is Apple unveiling its own low cost cell service plan that uses wifi and starlink only.

Something is happening with Starlink. AirTags that communicate with it. New cell service plan. Something. It's not just an iPhone SE.

I am more worried that this is to increase traffic to X.

Rumor had it that the M3 was more expensive than the M4 due to yield (as I type this on an M3 MacBook Air). So it is a NO BRAINER that they will introduce an M4 MacBook Air. It's probably been timed to get rid of remaining stock.

The SE is kind of exciting, as we will see how good the Apple "Phone Chip" (modem/radio - these are phones, after all) is. Yes, I know it's going to be a reduced modem feature set vs the 17's modem, but I'm hoping the reception in rural areas will be somewhat better than the iPhone 15 and 16 are with the Qualcomm chips.

I lose them regular on the AirPods... but the AirPods Pro never fit right for me.

I actually had an air pod fall on a cruise ship earlier this month.

Keyword is the newest member of the family. I would think it's something entirely new like Apple Vision instead of Vision Pro as an example. SE models have been around for several years but then there have never been a 16SE. Question is would 16SE be considered as a new member of the family since SEs have been around? But then again every product apple releases is always a new member of the family. Since they mentioned SE before during their conference it is likely that it will be an 16SE.
