Bloomberg's Mark Gurman joins us on this week's episode of The MacRumors Show to talk through all of the latest rumors about the software updates and new hardware expected to be previewed at this year's WWDC, which starts on June 5.

Mark is known for his accurate insider knowledge about Apple's plans and he is behind many of the major reports covered here on MacRumors. He expects watchOS 10 to be the most significant update to the operating system since its debut, so he tells us more about what to expect and Apple's tradition of offering major hardware and software updates in tandem. He also gives us a clearer picture of what to expect from iOS 17 and macOS 14.

We dissect some of the major questions surrounding the two major hardware announcements anticipated for WWDC this year: the 15-inch MacBook Air and the "Reality Pro" mixed-reality headset. We also touch on the status of the Apple silicon Mac Pro, which has been rumored for over two years but has yet to emerge.

See more of Mark's work over on Bloomberg, subscribe to his weekly "Power On" newsletter, and follow him on Twitter @markgurman.

What's up with the hot dog finger in the graphic? Are MR staff part of some sort of multiverse now?

Now off to get an Everything bagel...

I didn't know about the whole naming thing on MacOS. I wouldn't mind Malibu either.

I wish TVOS got some love in terms of updates. They haven't changed that software since the birth of the Apple TV and it could use a bit of a refresh.

TvOS could see some changes, as the Apple TV app, Music app all need to be updated. I like to see the GUI resolution increase a but so you could show preview or other additional information for the apps, compared to how it is with MacOS Safari going to each hosts web pages or iPadOS apps.

macOS 14 should be like snow leopard, dropping the previous chip architecture.

There is no need to abandon corporate/educational account buyers that bought 2019 models that are still being sold currently. There has always been the possibility of both sold however it’s strange Apple has not seen fit to update anything. That means that AS Mac Pro is likely still in process to release IMHO. Whats got everyone’s curiosity is likely delays associated with M2 Ultra, and the production line for it.

macOS will have some updates, the lowest hanging item could be widgets on the desktop and improvements to Stage Manager.

I for one would like to see them continue to update the OS for enterprise support. They did platform SSO with the last update, but it would be good to see improvements in the enterprise side. Not sure what those could be, but make it easier for users to use a Mac in a Windows environment natively.

Only genuinely exciting things Apple will put out in the next 15 years:
  • Apple Headset (Such a risky product. But "future of the personal computer"? Yes, please!)
  • Apple Glasses
  • Apple Car
  • Everything under-display iPhone with Face ID and a great front-facing camera

In other words: he doesn’t actually know, he’s guessing, but go read his newsletter where he will exclusively tell you that: he is totally guessing. How do I get a job like this?
It is a very weird job and only possible within the tech news sphere because of how insanely hyped the general public is with all things consumer technology.

A fraction of what he's predicting is solid leaks with actual documentation. The rest is just very safe and reasonable guesses that you can easily make if you follow Apple as intensely as he does and don't dream up iPhones mini Pro and 36" iMacs that Apple will obviously never do.

But the sum of these leaks and common sense guesses makes for a lucrative career as an "Apple insider".

Oh what fun he‘s hyping the AR/VR headset rumors again. :D

Really awkward that the dude on the right doesn't get introduced. Are we suppose to know who he is? I've seen him in other videos, also not introduced.

So no updated 13" MBA in June now.....

"Apple is working on a larger 15-inch MacBook Air, an updated 13-inch MacBook Air, and an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro, and at least some of these new laptops will be announced at WWDC in June, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman."

Literally everything is a rumor these days. Whether Apple announces it before WWDC during WWDC or after WWDC just shows how nutty everything is. A updated Mac Studio, AS Mac Pro, and updated iMac are another three examples, then we have the AR VR device, I can’t recall how a more frustrating example been overdramatize in awhile. And that doesn’t include anything OS that the keynote usually concerns.
