As the iPhone 17 lineup's announcement draws closer, on this week's episode of The MacRumors Show we discuss some of the most important latest rumors about the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to introduce a significant redesign. The device will move from a titanium frame to an aluminum unibody. As part of this new design, the rear camera array will be made out of aluminum and span the entire width of the back, with the flash and the LiDAR scanner moving to the right side.

To enable wireless charging, there will be a glass cutout in the aluminum chassis below the large camera bump. The Apple logo will move down to be centered to this glass segment, which will lead to some MagSafe accessories such as clear cases being redesigned so that the logo can still be seen.

A new cover glass with improved scratch resistance and a better anti-reflective coating are also expected. The new Pro models are rumored to come in black, white, gray, dark blue, and orange finishes. There are also sketchy reports of an iridescent-style "Liquid Glass" colorway.

The device is almost certain to be powered by the A19 Pro chip with 12GB of memory – a 50% increase. Thermal enhancements are also expected, along with battery life improvements. All four iPhone 17 models that are coming in 2025 will likely have Apple's first custom-designed Wi-Fi chip with Wi-Fi 7 support.

Major improvements are anticipated for the rear camera system, with the telephoto making the jump to 48-megapixels to match the main and ultra-wide cameras. It could also have an 8x optical zoom instead of the current 5x. There are also reports of an all-new "pro" camera app and even an additional camera control.

The iPhone 17 lineup is now rumored to be announced on Tuesday, September 9. The series of devices could see a $50 price hike, but a base storage bump from 128GB to 256GB is possible for the iPhone 17 Pro. As for the orange. I am really looking forward to seeing what they do with it. But I also think it might be a bit more on the "feminine" side. In the past we had gold. I really liked desert sand but I felt like it´s also a bit more for the girls that want bling.

For scratch resistance look at Zeiss. They released their new lens coating for prescription glasses earlier this year, duravission gold. It has a 16 in the Bayer-Test, 10 is considered very scratch resistant already. It's out there.

I feel like actually use their camera because certainly I know that even uh you know people that that are of a generation that they they mainly take landscape photos. Those people have got used to doing that by touching the screen, not by using the camera control.

I take landscape photos, but I do it by pressing the volume button, not the screen. Camera Control wouldn't add anything as far as triggering the shutter release.

There is a 13Pro in the Family Fleet that is going to get replaced by a 17 Pro, so I'm excited! Especially since I will inherit the 13Pro to replace an XS.

These phones just keep getting bigger and bigger! The new iPhone 17Pro is about 1.5cm thick. I love the camera but it's a pain that the size just keeps increasing every year.
No, iPhone 17 pro max is twice thinner than 1,5 cm. If you are a midget, you can can iPhone air or regular iPhone instead complaining. The majority of the people are fine with the thickness of iPhone 17 Pro Max

What kind of orange are you looking forward to?
As I guy I would love a deep, rich, earthy orange. But I am kinda expecting something more on in a pastel goldorange with my "for dem girls" assumption.

I would also love that type of orange, I like earthy autumn colors. Or a nice copper! I’ll get it regardless, but I’m hoping it’s not more pastel.

Here is my living room lol I’m a fan of orange and other colors!

I wonder what an antireflective screen with a glossy screen protector would look like.
I was thinking the same. I definitely want a screen protector but want to be sure how it would look like on a nano texture display otherwise I will have to get normal glass because i can't compromize on screen protector.

Let me know if you find out an answer.

I don't think they will use the nano texture because it has the be cleaned specific ways and would be more easily damaged. I think it will be a more traditional matte coating.

Moving the LIDAR to the bottom is gonna cause all kinds of issues. When you hold the phone to take photos or shoot video your fingers are probably gonna block it and mess with AF etc.
