Andru Edwards and Kevin Nether join us on The MacRumors Show this week from the Apple Podcasts studio in Apple Park to discuss first impressions of the Vision Pro headset and the wave of other announcements the company made at WWDC this year.

We talk through first-hand experience of what the Vision Pro headset is actually like, including comfort, control input, and mixed-reality experiences. We also touch on the Apple silicon Mac Pro, refreshed Mac Studio, and 15-inch MacBook Air, as well as some of our favorite new software features from iOS 17, iPadOS 17, tvOS 17, watchOS 10, and macOS Sonoma.

My resistance to it is that it's such an isolating device.
I totally get this, and VP might be the most isolating yet, but I feel that way about our current devices. Headphones, laptops, phones — the users’ attention is rarely shared with others. It will be interesting to see how this device contributes to user isolation over the next decade.

Do you think the Vision Pro can be/will be something you could actually work on. Instead of say a mbp with a second monitor and a stylus and pad you could actually illustrate and photo retouch design advertising and the like? Perhaps even video.

Decent episode this week. Maybe a little on the gushy side, but the excitement was palpable. I guess my issue with the headset is more of how it will impact society and if we get a real life version of Ready Player One with people wearing these things most hours in the day. I get it's only a short battery life, but it's also generation 1, so they are going to refine it and improve on it greatly as the years go.

I think this is such a great question. I'm very curious what developers create for productivity. The device was purposely priced for professionals and power users in order to give the platform time to grow until it is read for regular users. I'm sure consumers are balking at the price, rightfully so, but this is smart way of entering the market and allowing the platform to grow.

Guys, what's with the giganto-ass microphone and boom setups? There are bands that do studio-quality multiple-vocalist live recordings with less bulky and obstructive gear, and you guys are literally just sitting there talking to each other.
