The mail application on a mac - rank?

Hey there,

When I open up my mail application on my mac there is a search bar on top. When I search for something the items that I searched for obviously comes up.

What does the "rank" mean?

The ones with the highest rank would be the most relevant to your search criteria, or I guess it could be mean they really smell badly too.
