Is gonna be having a new iPhone, and not being able to used it because the unlock hasn't been released. Not looking forward to that! :(

maybe the subsidies will be so alluring that you won't want to unlock.

Maybe you should just wait to get it. I won mine on launch day and it took me a couple of days to figure out a Terminal workaround for the firmware.

What was the competition - and to broaden that out, are there current threads on Apple merchandise competitions? I would imagine there will a whole shoal of them post WWDC/ iPhones release.

Well my current contract is pretty much free, so I doubt that :(

Will you have to pay to use GPS if it has it? I wont be using 3G because I dont have a data plan, butI think GPS would be an awesome thing, if its free!

First of all, if you need to unlock it, why would you buy it if it's not unlockable? Why not just wait? Second, if you don't have a data plan, what's the point in getting a new iPhone instead of an existing one? The 3G won't benefit you at all and if the chip specs are correct and it has aGPS, you'll probably need a data plan to use it. You're gaining pretty much nothing by getting the new iPhone

Relax, and as Zibri's ZiPhone blog says: "Stay tuned for further informations."

Seeing as there may be a time gap between WWDC annoncement, and you actually getting one in your hands, I'd imagine the wait for action from Zibri won't be that long.

Till then, if you count this small problem as "the most frustrating thing" then consider yourself lucky ;)

(Case in point: Zibri saying this will be "the "heart" of the new iPhone 3G! It features a category 8 HSDPA connection for a top speed of 7.2 Mb/s over the air <SNIP> The main iPhone CPU will remain unchanged as expected."

If 3G is the ONLY new function, I won't get the iPhone. Im not that stupid. If there is GPS, video, better camera, more memory etc. why would I buy an old iPhone if I can afford a new one?! explain that to me.

becauuuuuseee..
a)no one cares
b)you shouldn't be so eager to do something illegal. that's just.. scary..
c)you shouldn't even be worrying because it's coming out in a day and a bit. jeez. can't you just wait and see if it NEEDS to be hacked.? poor old iphone just wants some lovin'

a) it makes me sad to hear that.
b) its not illegal, where did you get that idea?
c) I will be happy if it doesn't need unlocking, but honestly, whats the likelihood of that!

SO would a phone GPS chip be different to a tomtom? Because you don't have to pay to use tomtom. So would you with a phone?

Okay, so why are you willing to pay $500 for what will probably be an average GPS unit? For that kind of money, you could buy a dedicated GPS that would do everything but drive the car for you.

Unless this is a ego thing, I can't see you wasting the money. Wait until you're ready to sign a contract and add the data plan.
