Anyone received the new ("updated" model) 17" macbook pro yet? Could you check your FireWire chipset?
"to find the chipset, you simply reboot the Macbook while holding down Command-S. You will get a DOS-ish screen, and about 1/2 to 2/3 down there will be something that says FireWire, and the chipset will either be TI (Texas Instruments) or Agere (Lucent)."
I am wondering if the new 17 will cause any issues with M-Audio Profire 610, Focusrite Saffire or simmilar audio firewire interfaces. I am plannig to purchase both MBP 17 and ProFire 610.
What are the options if FW port will cause the problems and the interface will not work via FW400 port?
1. Maybe I can switch with my interface to the FW800 port and it will work fine?
2. Buying a FireWire ExpressCard to connect the interface via EC/34 slot?
Thanks,
Bartek
