Hello everyone, recently I purchased a 23.7 new UltraFine display for my 2018 MacBook Air. It works really good. However, I have a PC as well and want to connect it with the display. I purchased a Moshi usb-c to DisplayPort cable to give it a try. The display works with my PC now but I can't adjust the brightness. Plus, if I insert both usb-c cable into the female usb-c on my display, neither my MacBook Air or my PC will work. I have to unplug one cable to make sure the other one work. I think it is not convenient, so I want to buy an external splitter to split the signal so that the monitor will only get one signal at a time. Is there any suggestions to solve my 2 problems? Any response will be appreciated. Thank you

One more question: is the 27ul850 any better than this UltraFine? I really like it, but I want my PC also use the beautiful display as well.

Solution for connecting Mac and PC to the 24MD4KL-B at #10.

The 27UL850-W is bigger than the 24MD4KL-B and has the same price (it might have a discount actually). The LG website has a compare option that you can use to compare the features.

The 27UL850-W has four inputs that you can connect to different computers. The PC should be able to use it easily. The Mac also but I'm less sure. I would connect the Mac with USB-C and the PC with DisplayPort. For the Mac, only USB 2.0 will be supported by the display's downstream USB ports because you're using all four of the super speed lines in the USB-C connection for 4K 60 Hz DisplayPort 1.2 input. When you switch the input to DisplayPort from the PC, the downstream USB ports will probably switch to USB 3.0 for the Mac (since the USB-C cable is connected to the Mac still, and the display isn't using the super speed lines for DisplayPort input so two of those lines can be used for USB 3.0).

Basically, if you're using the display for multiple computers then you probably shouldn't use the downstream USB ports of the display.

The manual doesn't describe the input selection option so I can't say for sure that all four inputs are independent.
