Well, if you're correct, I'm going to peg Oct. 12th, since I can't fathom Apple announcing the new iPods while the iPod promotion is in effect.

Still ain't bad. It'll be a good few months before I can afford one anyway. In the meantime, my 4G is a damn spiffy lookin' paperweight.

It's much more likely to be released on Oct 9th, as it's a Tuesday. Apple likes to release new products on Tuesdays.

As the 9th just happens to be my birthday, it would be the best present if Apple released an updated Video iPod on the same day. I'm still eagerly waiting to replace my dying 4G one!

Either last year or in 2005 they released the new iPods about a week or two before the promotion ended. The promotion specifies which models it applies to.
