Isn’t this exactly what Steve Jobs was against? He came in and simplified the lineups, the pricing, and creating consumer and pro. Give people too many choices and some get frustrated and choose to do nothing or wait. One of the most important things he did when he came back was he simplified the lineup, removing products.

This year is wild, the 8 seems very odd, and with a price bump too.
SE, 6s, 6splus, 7,7plus, and now add an 8,8plus and then the 10? So 8 iPhone’s? not even counting color? Maybe cut it in half, maybe should have had just the 10? one consumer one plus or pro model and keep last years around, 4 models.

Probably even more confusing for a regular consumer.

Can’t wait until next year to see how this plays out, iPhone 8s and 10s, or 9 and 11? It’s just me, but it’s maybe time for some cutting products and simplification, I mean if I buy the 8plus is that considered the new iPhone this year...

yes it really is. now you can get an iPhone from 409€, each adds a hundred up to 1349€

They already skipped their normal naming convention which would have had this generation as the 7S, so my guess is they will probably change up their naming scheme next year.

My bet is that it will be just iPhone and for support purposes be differentiated by something like iPhone 2018, The iPhone X is probably their way of getting in a price increase at the high end, and we will see that price point stick while the lower priced iPhones take the roll of midrange model.

Why is Tim Cook not learning from History?

Steve Jobs talks about reducing the number of products at Apple during his 1997/1998 rebuilding of the company.
