.... a Retina display!

Ha!

That would be cool though right?

I was trying the external monitor function last night and it brought me back to thinking about a Dell laptop from the mid 90's. I think it was the 15in and it had something like 1600x1200.

Some really tiny print but perfectly legible, it was awesome

It's just irritating knowing that a late model 19in widescreen external monitor is 'typically' only 1440x900 and a Dell E6500 15.4in was 1920x1200 and an older Dell C840 was 1600x1200 (still not recalling thru google results what that very early model was).

The 13in Air is probably the closest thing in terms of pixel density.

The highest DPI computer apple makes is the 17" MBP at 1920x1200. A couple of my friends have HP laptops with that same res, but a 15" screen. I have really good vision, but that was painful to look at.

Sigh. The Apple marketing machine is too good. A "retina" display on a laptop would be horrific. Text would be ridiculously small and the GPU would not be able to push out graphics at that resolution without melting the aluminum unibody.
