I bought a macbook pro, itouch, and a printer and my online banking shows 2 $1.00 charges from apple. Anyone else get this?

They're checking your card no doubt. First time purchase there? Big money? Have they charged you for the item yet?

Yes, first time purchase, the total was $1800ish. I haven't been charged for it yet. I hope that won't affect me from getting the itouch and printer rebates...

As jessica. alluded to, they are Pre-Authorization holds. It's a place holder for when the actual purchase is charged to the account.

Nothing to worry about, unless of course you don't have the funds.

Thanks for the explanation. My friend told me that was the Apple Tax.

Yeah, it's just an authorization charge. It will reverse after a period of time. A lot of companies do this to verify that the card is valid. I see charges like this when I fill up with gas. I think businesses do this as a way to get around the fees that credit card companies charge them to validate a card. It's cheaper to do a small charge and reverse it than to pay for a true "validation." Yet both processes essentially do the same thing.
