The "Places" under Desktop that you name

can I change that? I just did a fresh install and screwed it up.

Is that normally referred to as "User"? I guess I need a good name for it instead of my name.

You can drag any folder into the places section of the finder's side bar. See this video (at about 1 min 50 sec).

If you are thinking about renaming your user folder--DO NOT. Create a new user instead.
