At least he has raw calculations. Looks plausible, and I hope they release it soon. C'mon Apple, you know I want my $3000 :]

Why are people posting about this? Is this surprising to some people?

Of course the 17" models are coming (eventually). This is Apple's style. They are generally updated later.

This has always been the case with every 17" that I can remember. They are always updated after the 15".

If anyone out there has there heart set on a 17" I would tell them to wait another 3 months before buying one.

Hopefully, the wait won't be that long. Obviously, there are more internal changes than cosmetic with the 17" model that is causing optical drive and display issues.

a Little Question?

The screen is Glass, the body is aluminum (Metal). Does material touching is not good...
I think aluminum will scratch the screen

There is a tiny rubber bumper to seperate them. And im sure the glass on these is quite similar to the glass on the iphone.

Thanks.

I will wait for the 17", maybe they release it after christmas. What do you think?

Maybe the 17" screen problem was originated by bending of the larger screen and maybe a contact between the aluminum body and the glass

I've got a 17" MBP, and I just ordered the new 15". I didn't do it due to impatience, but I wanted to try out the smaller size as I don't think it will be a huge issue for me and it is a bit more portable.

My other thought was about that big sheet of glass on the 17" screen. Surely that will add considerably to the weight? I'll be interested to see before and after weight when it comes out.
