We'll get a 10.4.10 - October is 6 months away, it's unlikely that we won't get a new update till then...

I'm glad the arguments will stop.

10.4.8 - September 29, 2006
10.4.9 - March 13, 2007

Ok so not 7 months but 5 and a half.

I'm not doubting that 10.4.10 is valid, in fact i've always been a supporter. I also feel that 10.4.10 will be released and have already expressed this elsewhere but I am just pointing out that it is not beyond possibility that they will not release an update.

Also apple may pull developers from 10.4.10 work to get 10.5.0 out of the door on (new) time.

Surely when Apple released 10.4.9, they intended it to be the last update?
Not that I doubt a 10.4.10 update is impossible.

they also intended to ship Leopard sooner too.
as they work out the bugs it might become necessary to update Tiger for compatibility and bug issues too.

Well sure, they may need to update Tiger but there's no guarantee that they would even bother to name it 10.4.10. It may be simple a random update from Apple. Once Apple gets out of the .1 - .9 method it opens the door for 10.5.17, or even 10.5.1.7, which while not really mattering just seems silly.

While it is possible that Apple may release Mac OS X 10.4.10, it does not mean that they have to do so. I expect the vast bulk of their attention to be on getting Leopard ready as soon as possible. :)

Surely they didn't. I never saw anything which indicated this anywhere.

They could always call it 10.4.9.1

No, they can't. That would be a minor revision of 10.4.9, something that probably wouldn't be released to the public.

They will, because 10 is the number that comes after 9.

My understanding was that Apple has two teams that work on OS X, which alternate versions. The team that did 10.3 is doing 10.5. The team that did 10.2 did 10.4 (and would presumably be starting initial work on 10.6 about now). So they wouldn't have to pull developers. Of course, my understanding could be wrong...or they could have changed the system....

I still don't see a 10.4.10 update....what's wrong with the 10.4.9 update?. Also what makes people think that the issues which weren't fixed in the 10.4.9 update will be fixed in a 10.4.10 update or even Leopard.

I hope to god that we see a major update of Tiger just so that we can solve the freaking mystery and bury these threads once and for all.
