This is too funny:

If Brokeback Mountain had won Best Picture, I would have won the office pool. It was those darn butterfly ballots again!

There's a frickin' arrow pointing next to the frickin' hole which you're supposed to fill in for the frickin' movie you want to frickin' vote for. If a person gets confused by something like this I question whether they should be allowed to remain in the gene pool or not. How is it that some people in this world can lack such basic common sense and judgment? It's not rocket science people!!!

I was going to say the same thing...it looks pretty easy to see which one you're voting for to me. How could you fill in #2 and think you're not voting for Crash is beyond me...haha.

You do understand that this fake ballot is making fun of the people of southern Florida who, back in 2000, were too stupid (yes, I said it) to understand the following concept:

pick candidate name you want to vote for -> follow arrow to corresponding hole -> punch hole

As Shard said mockingly, people who are too lame to get this really have no business voting... and I agree. ;)

Oh yes, I knew that once you posted it, hence why I went on my rant. ;) The stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me.

I tried to give this thread a rating, but I clicked the wrong button and deleted a few hundred MacRumors members' accounts instead.

How the heck did you let that Doctor Q guy become a moderator? He's always messing things up for us. By the way, thanks for the sweet MacRumors t-shirt and mug. And don't worry, I won't tell anyone back at MR about the contribution skimming going to the college fund (I think I've conned a few more into becoming demi's by telling them about that awesome "party" you throw).

Reply to my PM when you get the chance, and say "hi" to the kids.

Edit: Crap. That wasn't the PM button.

Brokeback didn't win because the movie just sucked from start to finish.

I really don't see what the fuss was all about. Friend who I went to see it with, she liked it a lot.

Is that really the design of a ballot paper? I agree that people should realise what's going on, but that's still bad design. What's wrong with a single list of names with a box to the right that you cross/punch or whatever? It seems a clumsy and needlessly confusing design for something that should be dead simple.

So it was just a porno in disguise...

EDIT - Hey Lau, that's what our ballots look like. You just put a tick next to the name you want. Easy.

No no no, there's no potential for controversy for such a foolproof balloting system. The possibility for controversy keeps the US media going strong. If nothing went wrong, nobody would ever get angry at the government, and if nobody ever got angry at the government, then it would all be so boring.

I didn't realize there was such a correlation between being old and being incompetent - thanks for the insight.

Oh, and Shamus, it's "Mac", not "MAC". :p

I haven't seen Brokeback, but Crash was a pretty awful movie. I am AMAZED it was even in the running.

I agree...I rented it because of the 'hype', and yet, at the end I was wondering what the fuss was about...fyi, didn't even go to see Brokeback, not interested in Gay Cowboys...
