Apple today uploaded two additional videos in its series that stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Apple's personal assistant Siri, both of which are meant to show off Siri's range of functionality.

In the first video, The Rock uses Siri to activate the HomeKit-connected lights in his gym, and in the second, he speaks in Mandarin, demonstrating Siri's ability to work with multiple languages.

Support for multiple languages is one of the main differentiating factors between Siri and other voice-based AI assistants like Alexa and Cortana.

Both of today's videos are new, but look similar to scenes that were in the original "The Rock x Siri Dominate the Day" spot, which is three and a half minutes in length. In the first ad, The Rock is seen using Siri throughout an entire day as he commandeers a plane, cooks a meal in a high-end restaurant, and ends up in space.

Apple yesterday shared three other short ads depicting The Rock asking the personal assistant to set a reminder, set a timer, and take a selfie.

Apple's partnership with The Rock to highlight Siri features comes as Apple gears up to release its first Siri-based speaker at the end of this year, the HomePod. Siri is also an important part of the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with Apple undoubtedly hoping to increase awareness about all of the things Siri can do through the ad series.

The ads are good IMO, but Siri is Apple's major weakness and it keeps carrying it the same year after year.

When I'm driving, it's supposed to help me stay concentrated on the road, but the reality is it's so disturbing and frustrating to use, that I end up losing my attention all the time. Especially when it takes 15 attempts to :
  • Play the song One More Light : Sure ! (opens Apple Music and downloads a random song called One More Light)
  • Play One More Light : Okay David ! Playing One More Night from Maroon 5.
  • Play the song One More Light from Linkin Park : Sure, let's play One More Night from Maroon 5.
  • Play the album One More Light from Linkin Park : I couldn't find music from Lincoln Park.
  • Play the album One More Light from Linkin Park : Playing Linkin Park, shuffled.
  • And so on...
It has been like that since I have Siri on my iPhone 5 and 6s. How can you NOT be frustrated???

The Rock is so charismatic. I cannot believe that he consistently chooses such terrible movies to be in.

What is this movie? Tripe that my kids will watch 800 times and laugh about.

I think Apple should find a new angle for their ads. Siri is... just not very useful for a lot people. For instance the waterproofing of iPhone 7 (or 7S?) I suppose is a much bigger deal to most people.

They are really worried about Siri to do such campaign. I still thinking that is useless apart from while driving.
Even when driving one should rather refrain from it, I believe there was a study that found using Siri while driving a risk factor leading to accidents.

I guess this is what happens when a company has too much money. How about build a wind farm or start a food outreach program for kids or something. I realize this is just an ad, but it's pointless because it's going to have zero effect on the purchasing public. What a sign of mismanagement and waste.

JFC, I hate yelling at Siri in the car when the mic is pointed AT NY FACE and it still doesn't activate. "Text my wife and tell her I'm on my way" and it includes all the unnecessary words, and then you flip your car trying to correct.

This can be especially frustrating when the text is correct but it still plays a different song.

This is a sign that Tim and Co. have turned Apple into the "Mad Men" offices where they go out for two hour lunches and rarely do any real work. Then right when they need to, they come up with some great pitch and warmed over technology to appear like they're doing "Apple" things.

sigh... this is so bad... Siri is actually more than useless in real life, as @PsykX pointed. If you think Siri has problems playing Linking Park, you should try asking her to play Meshuggah, she would probably crash...
I'd never talk to this piece of software in front of people, especially about... weather. It's pathetic.

This is how talking to Siri looks like in real life, and I'm not talking about accents:
