The “Shoe Tree,” located just north of Kalkaska up here in Northern Michigan, is somewhat of a legend… both locally and web-wide. (I Googled it yesterday; more results than I expected!) To quote an article I read, there’s as many theories behind the origin of the shoes on the tree as there are, well, shoes on the tree. From “a couple argued” to “bigfoot did it,” I’ve certainly heard a lot of theories… but my sister has her own, and we thought it would be fun to turn it into a short film.

Here's a link to the film:

I'd love to hear what you think! =)

I enjoyed this little film. I liked the way it was shot. The killer really fitted his role.

The foley (sound) could have been a little better. When the killer stepped on that stick, it sounded a little too fake, almost humorous. Thats the only thing I found wrong.

That camcorder is nice!

Thanks-- glad you enjoyed it =)

I agree about the foley; that's a new aspect to me... still working on it. ;-)

We shot with an FX1 attached to Redrock Micro's M2 lens adapter -- we were using 35mm Nikon lenses to achieve the shallow depth of field.

I liked it, what did you film it with? We have a power line in one of the neighborhoods filled with shoes, I always wanted to get a ladder and take a pair of converse.

Edit: nm I just see you posted that.
