With all this talk of going from 3G to 4G phones and only using a little bit of data on 3G but not knowing how switching from 4G is going to affect you, let's discuss it here with people who already made the switch.
I for one am for keeping unlimited data for as long as you can.
With VZW it is only $30 a month compared to the $30 2gb plan, it is a no brainer there.
"Well I only use about 1GB a month on 3G" okay well that is fine and dandy but I would recommend switching to a 4G phone before you get rid of your UDP to make sure that your usage remains the same. For me, I use to use less than 1GB a month on slow sprints 3G. When I switched to a Galaxy Nexus on VZW my usage shot up to over 10GB. Why? Because when watching Youtube I could only watch maybe 2 videos in 10minutes due to buffering and loading. Now I can stream them as fast as I can click on them.
If you already stream Netflix/Hulu/Pandora/Spotify you already use a good bit of data there, if you do not, you might want to in the future, why set yourself up for overages because you chose to dump UDP when you weren't using these services before.
TDLR; your mileage may vary but at least switch to 4G before you dump UDP so you know 100% that you did the right thing.
My story is all VZW related maybe some AT&T guys can chime in.
