Hi!
I have the opportunity to get a silver iPhone 13 pro max through my job. As I don’t need separate phones for work and private use, the phone will also become my daily driver.
So, I have some questions, I’m sorry if they are stupid, but I’ve searched this forum and haven’t really found what I’m looking for.
If you think the thread is silly, feel free to go back to the main page and find another thread.
So..
I’ve owned every generation of iPhone since the 4S, but I have NEVER owned a white/silver phone. They have all been black/space gray/graphite.
So, the first question is perhaps the one I will be most ridiculed for, but is the white iPhone considered to be too “feminine” for men? I know it will be covered in a case most of the time, but will the white/silver camera part look feminine - or just classic/stylish/premium?
Secondly, I’ve read that the silver iPhones are more likely to scratch, because they lack the PVD coating that the colored iPhones have.
Is this true of the iPhone 13 pro series too, or have they changed it this year? I’ve read both on the net. Any experiences from those of you who actually have a silver iPhone 13 pro max?
If they still haven’t coated the silver phone, how easily is it scratched? I mean, does it scratch from everyday use, when put in its own pocket, a case, no falls, etc, or is it just when exposed to “rough treatment” that it gets scratched?
Third question… is the silver border visible when you view the screen, so that there appears to be a silver frame around the screen?
And then lastly, will the white color of the phone yellow over time?
I hope I get some answers to these questions.. if not I’ll just stay with my current, graphite phone, and decline the offer from my job.

1. No, white phones are not feminine. It'll look good with pretty much any case you choose.
2. Can't speak on the scratching, but from what I've read you're correct that the bare stainless steel scratches easier.
3. Depends on the case. If you use an Apple leather or silicone case, yes the frame will be visible. Personally I think it looks awesome. Some may disagree.
4. I've never seen anything to suggest the white phone will yellow. That's more of a TPU/plastic case issue.

I know you're asking about iPhones specifically, but as the owner of a white Pixel 3aXL, I don't find the phone to be feminine in any way, and I've received zero comments like that in the two-plus years I've had it. And this phone is all white, no silver or other color to offset it. I use it without a case, and the color has not yellowed or stained at all, and it goes hiking with me on a regular basis.

I'm considering switching back to iPhone, and I would definitely not be swayed from a silver/white 13PM. I've played with the 13PM as part of my research. Enjoy the phone! It's an amazing piece of kit.

I always get the white version of all iOS devices and it's a neutral color so not feminine or masculine... The stainless is not coated, never has been and it's the only color that scratches can be removed using polishing compound or a Capecod cloth for lighter scratches. My iPhone X still looks as white as the day I bought it so no yellowing at all

Always got the white/silver version too. I had reservations about the 12 and 13's design and how the reflective stainless steel would not look good on squared off sides. However, holding a silver 13 Pro in hand reminds me of the old iPod classic days, so that's nice.

I had the white XS. Loved the color. It was in a case, but looked the same when I sold it as when I bought it. I would not hesitate to get that color again.

Considering the X is silver, not white… It’s odd yours look white.

They only dropped silver and went back to white with the 11.

I would step away from any gender phobia when it comes to colours. It’s not as if you’re asked to run around in a dress. If you like the colour, that’s all that matters.

Yea stainless steel might scratch a bit quicker but I wouldn’t worry too much about it especially since you’ll put the thing in a case anyway.

I always goes for the silver/white version but for the first time i want to switch from black/darker grey
There is no color for any gender but its true women are most likely to prefer white over black or any dark color and vice versa for men!
My own opinion its silver or white looks ''brighter'' while black or dark color is sleeker/discrete
The reason why i would do the opposite of you: i want to associate iPhone and case (Apple leather case), and most of case, the black/darker color iPhone would suit better
I wish true black iPhone Pro for next release
iPhone 13 Pro Silver isnt silver, its rather a shade of white

No, in my opinion, white/silver isn't feminine. But many people have a pre-conceived notion that it is and there's nothing you can do about that. So the question is, do you care what they will think?

Yes, the silver stainless steel does get micro scratches easily just from regular everyday use, but they can be buffed out with a Cape Cod polishing cloth. You can't do that with a darker colored/coated steel.

Yes, you can see the steel border from the front on the 13 PM models. With a case, maybe not as much.

No, the white glass does not yellow.

White/Silver has become my first choice for every new iPhone. It's classic, elegant, timeless, ageless and Apple iconic.

1. It's not feminine at all, it's outstanding. There is a fact that people with other iPhone colors are often attracted by the white/silver shortly.

2. I am not quite sure if the 13 Pro is coated with PVD, but as my experience, it's harder to scratch the 13 Pro than 12 Pro, it's just my personal feeling and witness. If you want to really protect the silver frame, I highly recommend the Apple silicone or leather cases, mine is just like the first day, not a single scratch.

3. Yes the silver frame is visible because it's contrast to the black screen. But I love contrast in colors :)

I love my white silver iPhone 13 Pro Max, it's like a piece of gem.

Looks the same to me when sitting side by side. When I ordered my X it was called described as silver, when you order a 13 Pro/ Pro Max it's described as silver... Still looks white to me how ever it's described by Apple. His question is whether white is feminine and it is pretty obvious white/ silvery white it is a gender neutral color..

Dont get confused with Apple color name
Starlight/Midnight/Silver/Graphite...
All these color names are rather misleading
The names you mentioned are still confusing for me so I had to visit the Apple website to clear it and it is mentioned as Sierra Blue, Silver, Gold, and Graphite.

Some of the names mentioned are the regular 13 colours I believe. You’ve listed the 13 Pro colours.

Thank you for all your opinions and for sharing your thoughts and experiences.
Long story short, I was able to get a sierra blue PM, 512gb, through my work. So, then I said goodbye to the silver one, before I ever even got it.
The sierra blue is also quite far from my usual gray/black phones, so I think I might need some time to adjust to the different color.
Anyway, I’m pleased with it so far, and I hope that those of you who went with the sierra blue phone this year are happy.

Oh lord. If you like a certain color of a phone just get it. Stop thinking something is to “feminine”. That’s ridiculous.
If you had read my first post properly, you would have seen that the «feminine question” was only one of four questions, and I didn’t emphasize it as any kind of dealbreaker.
I was only asking, because watching unboxing videos on YouTube and seeing posts here on MR, it’s hard to find men with with silver phones. Most go with graphite or the current “special color” (like midnight green, pacific blue or sierra blue), and was curious why.
The dealbreaker for me was the easy scratching of the silver model.
So, when given the choice between silver and sierra blue, I went for the blue.
As simple as that…

It's generally a bad idea to have your personal phone/data mixed with your work phone/data. Typically companies have device management where they can restrict what apps you can install, remotely wipe the phone, possibly monitor location, and you lose the data if you leave/are fired. Most people don't want that for their personal data.

Sierra Blue is beautiful this year.

Silver/ white is always a classic. All the creative ppl I know go for them year after year. And it looks great in every case. Gender neutral, not feminine at all.

I have the silver 13 Pro Max and it is simply beautiful. It is the contrast between the silver and white that I really like. Yes, the silver will scratch easier. For me, the only other color I was considering was the gold color.

I put a clear glossy skin on the sides and now I don’t have to worry about finger prints or scratches.
