IMO that's one of the best things about it! Because it's plain stainless steel, it's the ONLY one that can be polished with a Cape Cod cloth (or Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish) to look brand new, in about five minutes. That's why I got a white iPhone X and again this year with the iPhone 11 Pro Max.it looks very good (one of my favorite): the only flip side is that the sides can get scratches very quickly because they are stainless steel.

The only problem with silver, IMO, is that it shows up too much if you take pictures through windows in a dark room (on an airplane/train, at the aquarium, etc) whereas darker phones’ reflections are harder to see. Otherwise, yeah - the white is awesome. The back basically never gets dirty or shows fingerprints (I’ve wiped mine off once or twice, in the past almost two weeks) and the stainless steel is polishable. Love it.
Can you even see the frame if it’s in a leather case? The bolded bit is why I got a silver XS last year but as time went on I grew less fond of the raw steel frame. It was just too flashy for me and I couldn't wait to get back to my space gray this year. I love the white frosted back of this years model but I'm always in Apple Leather so ultimately all that matters is the frame.
Yep, Apple leather cases have the open bottom which is what faces me all day while it sits on my desk. Can you even see the frame if it’s in a leather case?
Didn't even put it in the case, what a case tease!
I didn't think about that, but you're right. I guess it would be good to use a dark case to the aquarium, if nowhere else. The only problem with silver, IMO, is that it shows up too much if you take pictures through windows in a dark room (on an airplane/train, at the aquarium, etc) whereas darker phones’ reflections are harder to see.
