Yup.
Wanted to share this for all claimers of X’s bigger screen. Don’t always trust the numbers .

I don't think there was any confusion. the X has always fallen in the middle with an equivalent 5" 16:9 screen (1920x1080)

iPhone (6,7,8) 4.7"
iPhone X 5.0" screen
iPhone (6,7,8) Plus 5.5" screen

it's not a larger phone we have known that

Why are people confused??

It's true, 16:9 video will look bigger on the 8+.

But anything in Portrait orientation, most of the things people do on a phone, there is more real estate for scrolling lists on the X. (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, News, Reddit, websites, banking apps, App Store etc etc)

Why are people whining??

5.8 is equivalent to iPhone 8, 7, 6, and it's called iPhone X
6.4 is equivalent to iPhone 8+, 7+, 6+, and it's called we'll find out next year

Why is it so hard to comprehend??

Apple had plans to release iPhone X Plus along iPhone X this year, but due to display constraints, they scrapped it and saved it for next year

It’s confusing when Apple deliberately claim 5.8 screen, which is bigger than 5.5,
But actually it’s smaller. Many people simply understand it’s bigger. Which it isn’t.
So there.

"So there" are you 5? Apple has made plenty of documents available yo figure this out

Made this thread on Reddit a few weeks ago, showing that not only does the 8 plus have more usable room, but it has more area as well.

https://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/716tob/dont_get_it_twisted_8_plus_still_has_the_largest/

The iPhone Plus series may have more area but it doesn't have more usable space. that's a logical fallacy.

Yea peope can’t get everything, especially when it says the screen is bigger.

The notch makes it even smaller.
The screen is bigger, taller and has more usable space for portrait Apps.

16:9 video will appear smaller, and everyone seems to focus on that.

nope. theres a full 1080p screen inside and it doesn't even come near the notch. 5" on the diagonal

as i said, smaller than 5.5. that was my point. more close to regular iphone size. thanks.

Why are chosing to ignore everybody who is disagreeing with you with logic?

The screen on the X IS Bigger, it IS Taller, it IS a higher resolution, it DOES allow longer scrollable lists, it WILL allow more usuable space on apps like Facebook, Twitter, News, Instagram, Safari (in Portrait), Reddit, (and many more pretty popular apps) etc etc

Sure 16:9 video will look smaller, buts thats 1 application.

Movies in 2.39:1 will looks bigger by the way. Just another application.

none of this has anything to do with the fact it's 5.0" usable area VS. the 5.5 on the +
all i said it isn't an actual 5.8" usable screen and false claiming bigger size (not including the notch). so what if it's "taller"? still smaller.
i don't argue which has more "Scrollable abilities", lol.

When viewing 16:9 video it is an equivalent 5" on the iPhone X. However, for any game, app, web page, etc you can use the whole screen. As previously stated, thats only for videos that are 16:9 anything with a wider aspect ratio will use more of the screen even surpassing what the Plus can display.

You might have a point if the ONLY thing you did was watch 16:9 videos. For messaging, browsing, gaming and anything else you can think of the X is going to have more pixels and more usable space.

whatever man. for you portrait people who include the ears and the notch.. well. to each his own manageable size i guess. many apps seems to have white bars on landscape.
btw have you calculated the usable area without the notch space?

Lets see. The iPhone X has 2,740,500 pixels. All Plus screens have 2,073,600 pixels.

The areas of the left and right of the notch are 22,410 pixels each. So 2,740,500 - 44,820

So ignoring the notch the iPhone X has 2,695,680 ixels. Thats 622,080 more pixels than any Plus sized iPhone.

If you want the screen size on the diagonal. It is probably around 5.65-5.7" ignoring the notch

Why are people confused, just walk into a store and check out a galaxy s8.

Easy enough to do, but not many want to take that challenge up.

It’s not exact but it will give you a good idea of what to expect.
