Was looking at TV tuners for my macbook, noticed one called the tubestick made by equinux. I saw that they just updated it (http://www.equinux.com/us/products/thetube/latestfeatures.html) and it now supports more tv tuners, so perhaps I can buy a cheap one but still get decent software.

The tube also seems to come with two cool iPhone apps called Live TV and tubetogo, perhaps I will be able to finally watch tv in bed if i get this one.

Anyway to my point, does anyone have any experience with the tube?

I tried it out briefly last night and found that it really hogged the core-2-duo iMac processor and didn't tune into nearly as many DTT channels as my eyeTV setup, even with the option to do detailed scanning (same hardware so the software is at fault).

eyeTV has a much better full screen interface, the epg is much better and someone has written a Front row plugin. The Media Central (front row alternative) supplied by Equinux is very good however, as are the iPhone apps that The Tube comes with are very smart (live TV on my iPhone was *very* cool).

YMMV

Cheers,
Alex.
