I just opened the 9to5Mac redesign and its abhorrent. Its using spacing and clumps of articles not dissimilar to The Verge (minus the awful blog post stream) and everything is so hard to find and skim. Hate it. The Verge was a dumpster fire not getting any better and should not be a template for others.

I know that. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I was complaining that 9to5Mac redesigned their site and committed many of the same poor design decisions The Verge did.

Personal preference but I think this is a huge improvement to 9to5Mac compared to the previous design they had

I'm a Full Stack Web Dev. Yeah, that's pretty bad. I can see why certain design decisions were made, but there are other ways to achieve the same thing.

Oh god. I didn't realize that 9to5Mac had been redesigned. I absolutely hate it. The "drop shadow" (don't really know what else to call it) looks so bad!

Although on the "other end," the old design looked ancient, but I liked it so much better.

9to5Mac seems to have an SSL issue right now or something

Just checked, and the site redirects properly again. Does make you wonder why that investment company was shown instead.
