The Vintage Macintosh collection

So the fam is ramping up for a move. This means *gulp* packing up my computers, bass guitar/music gear, vintage gaming collections.

Yeah Fun. Right.

Anyhoo, I took it as an opportunity to snap a pic of the collection. It’s getting somewhat unwieldy but that’s why I’m going from 1300sft to 2400sft. PLENTY of room

And then I realized I had forgotten the little beige. A g3 quadra tucked away next to a a k6-2 build.

I’d be lieing through my teeth if I told you I wasn’t worried about the Mrs’s in the morning. Up to this point I’ve been crafty in my Tetris camouflagd ppc fleet but now the collection is out in plain site - In all of its ppc glory. To be clear the better half is NOT a computer person. We’ll see if they survive the great migration to greener pastures lol.

My wife made the observation at one point that my Macs are equivalent to her purses (she has more than one for different things).

I did not look a gift horse in the mouth by making the foolish error of disputing her conclusion. Since then we've been good.

Perhaps a line of defense should you need one…

PS. We went from 1650sq feet to 1650sq feet. Our problem is that a certain portion of that footage is vertical. As in the area above the stairs going to the second floor.

Goodwill just picked up three couches this morning we've had since 2001. They don't fit here.

Hmmm. Your Kung fu is good. She does like her purses. Then again this does not include the intel macs, my monitors or my gaming rig etc. Aye dios mio.

Nice line up of Macs there Rhian. I understand your position. I had a nice space to tuck my various Macs out of sight and then came the time to clear out my home office and relocate my work desk and various Macs to the master bedroom to make up a spare room. It was no longer possible to keep my collection under wraps...

Fortunately, most of my 80 odd Macs are portables, so I ended up packing away just four towers (2x G4s, 2x G5s) and then setup a 4 tier rack to house all of the portables. This rack was previously full of things like DVDs, CDs, video games and consoles, etc.. so all of that stuff went into boxes in the garage along with the 4 PowerPC towers. It was essentially a cull without letting go of anything. So long as the car still fits in the garage then all is okay in the world.
