The volume and brightness graphics on OS X

I'm looking for files related to the volume and brightness 'boxes', when changing them with the keyboard. Does someone know where these GUI elements are located in Mac OS X Snow Leopard? Thanks.

I believe that it is in the HD/ system/ library/ core services folder, but I may be wrong.

I think, it is in there in any of the apps... But I couldn't find them so far. Maybe someone knows. My aim is to try to edit the graphics a bit and make them smaller.
