A penny weighs 2.5 grams. The weight difference between a 4g retina mini and the 4g air is 137 grams, or 54.8 pennies...just over a roll!

Chew on that.

Not bad not bad at all. Considering that the difference between an Air and the 4 is much more signficant

I was really expecting two quarters and a nickel. this is a bit more disappointing :(

oh well, I was getting the air anyways

How does a 16gb ipad weigh the same as a 128gb ipad?

do they just condense all the storage onto one chip which weighs the same?

Yes, it's all one chip. If you buy a 16GB iPad, you get a single 16GB chip. If you buy a 128GB iPad, you get a single 128GB chip.

478 vs 341. A roll of pennies isn't heavy to me but the problem still is portability for some. How many can fit an Air into one their pockets? The allure of the Mini!! :D

I've always wondered the same thing.

Digital storage doesn't take up space/weight the way physical storage does..the chip is the same size, physically.

To get old-school, an 80MB CD-R is the same size/weight as a 4GB DVD-R.

I don't get it. A dollar bill weighs 1 gram. Is this a non-US currency thing?

A stack of 137 $1 bills is quite hefty. Ask the lap dance bar employees...
