The Yahoo mail tab always says I have 3

I think I made a mistake. It's the saved listing in the bookmarks bar that always says I have 3. The tab seems to be showing the right info. So I assume when I saved the link to my bookmarks bar on the top, I had 3 messages at that time and it just stayed that way.
I would prefer to have something similar to my old Yahoo bookmarks drop down that I had with my Windows machine and Yahoo toolbar. It was one simple and organized place for my book marks. I didn't have to hunt and peck like I do when I go to the Mac bookmarks. At least that's how it feels. I have to go to the book, then look on the left, then look on the right. It just seems like a lot of steps. Where as before, I had folders that opened right in the same drop down. I am still getting used to my Macbook, so maybe there is an easier way and I just haven't found it.
