I don't know if this works. If you sim lock your phone, the person can't restore the phone, use a different sim even if they take your out, and after 3 tries of entering your simlock number, the person would need your PUK code to unlock the phone. That means the iphone is useless even if they restore it
But I need somebody to test this out. Can you take off the sim lock if you put in a new sim like a ATT or T-Mobile sim.

It doesn't lock the phone, it locks the SIM. So if they enter the code incorrectly 3 times, it effectively renders the SIM useless.

Pop another SIM in, and the phone will work fine.

It doesn't affect the ability to restore.
