Hello I have a question. I googled it several times and all the info I found was like 2012 and didn't know if things had changed with new software. I have a friend whom lost their iPad. They had no passcode of course. Question is even though she had find my iPhone on if someone found it and restored it back to factory is there anyway it can be traced? Via ip address or other? Thanks in advance.

There is no way to trace it if they factory reset it. But they will need the Apple ID password to factory reset the iPad. The iPad will need to be on for you to see it in Find My Phone. So the odds of them resetting it are slim, but the odds that it comes online are slim too as most people are aware of Find My Phone and how to avoid it. The iPad would be useless to the person who found it. They can use it but that makes it traceable as it is turned on.
