i know this has been asked before. but really did not get a good answer, is there a way to get rid of the others in itunes besides a complete restore i just got my 32g. a couple of days ago synced twice and its already over 1g. i hope someone knows thanks for takig the time to read this

If you've got the time, you can compare the file sizes on the phone for each program (in settings) to the download file sizes in the iTunes store. Then, see which ones are hogging up more space than they should and consider deleting them versus what data you'll lose by removing them. You can reinstall them later back to their original smaller size.

Backup and restore is certainly easier.
