when you d/l a theme pack and there are not any example pics to see, how can you sample them without having to install and reboot to veiw it? its an headache to do this with every theme.

I found the best solution for this is to create your own. You can start very simple by using an existing theme and change the pictures and icons. An example would be take a look at Saurik theme he has two alternating backgrounds which is essentially a file called rock.png and one called plant.png. At the most basic level just replace these files with your own and use the same names. You need to use Openssh to do this.
