So the new 13" has a 58 wh battery.
The new 15" has a 73 wH battery.

They're both quoted as having 7 hours of battery life. Wouldn't the 15" have better battery life, though, even accounting for the larger screen?

The macbook pro 15' number is base on assumption that you are using the 9400m and if you use the 9600m gt then slighty lower battery life.
 
Even though the 15inch has a bigger battery it requires more power to power the screen & 2 fans.
