With Winclone gone and various other utilities not being perfect, what would be the efficacy of doing the following when backing up and restoring Windows 7 Bootcamp:

1. Make a DMG backup of all files in the bootcamp partition.
2. After reformatting the Mac, run Bootcamp Assistant to make a new bootcamp partition
3. Install Windows 7 accordingly
4. Booting back into OS X, replacing the contents of the bootcamp partition (Windows and user folders, everything except BCD, et al)

?

Wouldn't it be easier to just use W7 backup instead of the DMG if all you are planning on doing is restoring files/settings.

Presuming you are not planning on resizing the partition you can also simply use dd from Terminal to make a bitwise image of Windows 7 64.
