Theory for the fingerprint reader

Its not in the home button. in pictures we have seen the reader is attached to the home button, but not under the home button itself.
what if the thingy next to the home button, if that really is the reader, is actually placed above the home button? perfectly in place with the "slide to unlock"? also on patents it seems the person swipes his finger on the screen, not the actual finger top on the home button.

i thought about this and actually think the reader could be below the slide to unlock part of the screen.

Multiple sources have stated the presence of a silver ring around the home button as part of the fingerprint sensor being implemented in the home button.
No way what you're saying is happening.
