Think about this for a second and envision Steve Jobs' original business chart:

ConsumerPro
DesktopiMacPowerMac
PortableiBookPowerBook

We're kind of at that juncture again if you think about where the Mac Studio slots in as a device that's being marketed toward truly prosumer uses (and at a prosumer price point). AND in a world in which we (at least for now) no longer have but one iMac size choice:

ConsumerProsumerPro
DesktopiMac/Mac miniMac StudioMac Pro
PortableMacBook Air?!MacBook Pro
I realize the Mac Mini is left relatively homeless here but it's always been that way.

You even see this breakout in the iPad line:

Consumer = iPad
Prosumer = iPad Air
Pro = iPad Pro

(yes, this leaves the iPad mini homeless but like the Mac Mini its sort of its own niche product)

We know the new MBPs were positioned in a much higher price bracket than the units they replaced (and the Mac Pro comes with pro power and a price point to match) and the M1 MBP was kept around. One could argue the 13" MBP was a stopgap, but its really more of a prosumer device. We know that the 13" MBP is due to live on with some modifications and an M2 chip.

Alas....would that be NOT a MacBook Pro but a MacBook Studio? Sure would make sense. Sure might rile the trademarkers at Microsoft, but you know, it is what it is.
