I was told by an Apple Store employee that there was no education discount on this new product. I had it reconfirmed after I ordered online and went to pick it up at my local Apple Store.

I went online yesterday to look at a new Airport Extreme, and I checked the Apple EDU Store and sure enough there was a discount showing for my 1.2.

I called Apple and they credited me the difference. I thought forum members who can get an EDU discount should know this.

Was it hard to apply an EDU discount? Mine is still processing and I didn't know this either.

Yes, there's been an edu discount on the rmb since it launched. $50

Search this forum for the "movers coupon" instructions. Apparently USPS offers a 10% off coupon for any one item at Best Buy, to people who are "moving." That could entail filling out the change of address form at USPS, or, apparently, purchasing the coupon on eBay.

I sincerely wish I'd known about it before the gold 1.2/512 MacBooks were all bought up at Best Buy. As it is, I'm still waiting for mine to ship from Apple.

Yes there is. It's not much though. It's just enough to afford the $80 adapter so you can add USB and HDMI

There is an EDU Discount on 2015 Macbook 12"!

Keep in mind that if someone decides to purchase the 1.3 Apple discounts another $25 off the upgrade and an additional $66 off the Apple Care protection. (I am aware the OP got the 1.2, just wanted to inform others who happen by this thread in search of edu pricing info).

It's best to buy online for the discount.

I was at the Apple store and this hot mom was buying a MacBook air for her kid and she tried to get the EDU discount.

The Apple Store guy asked for ID or some sort of proof, which she "left at home."

I should emphasize, if it was not clear, that the Apple Care discount is not predicated on purchasing the 1.3

Better yet, combine the movers with the BB student discount. You can only combine coupons in store, but it works. Mine will deliver tomorrow. $1221 out the door including taxes!

Not necessarily. The SD coupon clearly says it can't be combined with other coupons and it all depends on the cashier. When I tried once they wouldn't allow me to use both they said I could only use one of them.

You go to the post office and ask them for a change of address packet and you will likely find the BBY activation code for getting the 10% coupon. You don't have to fill out anything when you pick it up at USPS.

You have to get someone to override to use both coupons. It's annoying. Mine was 1232 with just the 10% coupon online after taxes. It doesn't always work. I tried to do it once the manager came over and said no.

In the UK I just ring the Apple Education number, order it through them as they do not ask for any proof of qualification, and get a discount of £63.

We do not have an equivalent of Best Buy here, it is full price from everywhere.

tut

and thats why there isn't a larger EDU discount, smh Im still in school and its people taking advantage of the system that screws it for everyone else. If you're not in the educational system don't use it. period

If done properly you can get the $50 education discount and use the 10% movers coupon at BestBuy. I was able to do it online which surprised me.
