I have an ipad 2 and a mini as a media server in the living room. Seems to me by now there should be a way to play a game on the ipad and view it on TV at the same time via bluetooth, wifi or something other than an HDMI cable!

iOS 5 might have wireless mirroring.

Perhaps soon. I'm hoping the ATV2 gets the task of game portal with iPads / Touches as gamepads.
