TheRegister says "Apple emasculates the iPhone"

In this article The Register has a grumble about being unable to drag and drop music to an iPhone in iTunes - and about not being able to play music in iTunes that is held on a plugged in iPhone.

To those of you with an iPhone - are they right? Or is there some trick they are missing?

Yes, they are correct. I see this changing with the first update though.
