Apple today announced that four additional games will be added to the Apple Arcade library on Thursday, August 7, including Play-Doh World.

Exclusive to Apple Arcade, Play-Doh World lets you create digital Play-Doh characters and more.

"Whether sculpting, stretching, squishing, or squashing, kids are invited to unlock their imagination with creative activities, fun games, and rewarding interactions," part of the App Store description for the game says.

Apple's full description of the game, from its press release:
Play-Doh brings its magic to the digital space with Play-Doh World, allowing players to craft their own characters and watch them spring to life. From inventing wild zoo animals to styling outrageous salon hairdos, every corner of this colorful universe responds to the player's creative whim. With dozens of interactive zones, collectible special Play-Doh, and regular content updates, Play-Doh World offers creative activities and open-ended, imagination-led play — all in a safe, ad-free environment.
The three other games that are coming to Apple Arcade on August 7:More details about all of the games are outlined in Apple's announcement.

Apple Arcade is a subscription service that provides access to hundreds of games across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro. All of the games are free of ads and in-app purchases. In the U.S., Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month, and it is bundled with other Apple services in all Apple One plans.

Apple Arcade can be accessed through the App Store and the new Apple Games app.

Apple Arcade is for a different audience and Apple will lose subscribers if they jacked up the price.
I'm not a subscriber, if they do this they will earn $15 instead of $6 and they will earn many subscribers if they can deliver AAA games regardless so I don't think profits will be an issue

Not even jacking up the price, its just the catalog of their titles.

One example I think of is Amanita Games - they had released Creaks and Pilgrims on AA. Phenomenal games from a phenomenal studio. But, there appears to be some strain between the two now, as indicated in this interview:

JD: Apple Arcade started at the right time for us as we had 2 games nearing the release when Apple approached us. So we were able to release both of them (Creaks and Pilgrims) on Arcade quite soon. AA helped us to reach a new big audience and it was also beneficial financially. Apple had a clear vision of what kind of games they wanted to support on Apple Arcade and why. Unfortunately this vision changed since then so I’m not sure about the future of this service.

Apple Arcade just seems to be for uninspiring games that are targeted for kids that are able to navigate an iPad.

The reason why it's all cutesy games is because the average Mac can't play AAA titles.

They need to increase GPU power for this to happen. This is happening slowly over time which is great. Personally I would be fine with some sort of Thunderbolt 5 Apple Silicon EGPU to dock my laptop and play some good games. This way anyone with an average Mac could later buy an add on to game if they want. Also with EGPUs, the GPU is not crammed in a smaller space which is better for heat/ performance.

I'm sure some people would think an EGPU is a step backwards. At the time when we had EGPUs, it was a cool setup for Mac gaming.

Apple and gaming ... it'll never be a good match

People always say things like this or "Apple doesn't care about gaming" which simply is not true, especially when we look at how far we've come in recent years:

We have the METAL API which is getting constant updates. Apple silicon is getting constant eGPU upgrades and getting fast and faster. There is a new Gaming Center that is in the new betas, and more AAA titles are coming to Mac like Cyberpunk, Balder's Gate, Death Stranding, Resident Evil 7, Rise of Tomb Raider, Borderlands 3, Assassin's Creed, No Man's Sky, and Valheim to name a few. Not all of these are AAA, but they're great games nonetheless.

Apple is putting effort into gaming, but it's simply not going to happen over night. This doesn't sit well in an instant-gratification age. I'd love to simplify my desk setup and get rid of my gaming PC, but we have to be patient.

I don't understand people who say "Mac will never game" as if they have a crystal ball. Is gaming a priority for Mac? No, not exactly, but we can't deny they are working on it and they have the resources to do it.

Explain how we have titles like No Man's Sky, Stray, and Death Stranding on the Apple App Store, then.

Instant gratification? You’re probably a Millennial, as we have been promised great Apple gaming support since at least 1994, just be completely disappointed after each unfulfilled announcement.
Go ask Gabe Newell or any of the really big developers if they care about Metal (or basically every API supported by Apple before it).

I wish Apple jacked up the price of Apple Arcade to $15 but include all the AAA games that Apple Silicon has to offer
Exactly! Games like Myst, Riven, Resident Evil… those are the games that matter.

If they don’t want AAA titles, they can still throw in great indie titles. But this… this mediocre at best.

Why would me mentioning "instant gratification " mean I'm a millennial? I'm Gen X.

So because Apple promised it 30 years ago and it didn't happen back then it means it's never going to happen? Let's think logically here. It's as if people are hurt by Apple similar to how a child was abandoned by their parent, only to carry this illogical grudge into adulthood. The psychology is interesting. Apple was a different company back then with different people, and was more restricted by the technology (and resources) at the time compared to now.

The topic of Mac gaming can get people so upset for some strange reason. To get so illogical and emotional over something relatively trivial is silly.

I really miss Butter Royale.

It was tons of fun for the whole family. In fact, it kind of brought the family together. The first grader loved it and so did the teenager. Even Mom got on board. Accessible, yet competitive. A shooter, but not violent. We really only paid for Apple Arcade because of this one game. It's been gone for about three years now. Haven't subscribed since.

The only game i play as an adult on my iPhone is Call of Duty. I have apple arcade because of Apple One Premier and still never play any of the games. it makes me wonder how may subscribers they actually have for Apple Arcade not part of a bundle.

It’s ironic how many AAA games can now run on the latest chips yet Apple is loading arcade up with kid games constantly.

This is what Microsoft did with Xbox and you know what’s going on there. MS made original Xbox as high performance console with their easy-to-develop DirectX for the console. MS doesn’t know about games and they just used their Engineering knowledge with tons of money and didn’t work that well.

If you’re using iOS 26 beta, see what’s happening with Games app. It’s just for lame Apple Arcade curation, not for AAA games on App Store. Its interface shows how they are ignorant on gaming.

Dejavu?

Worms hasn't looked right since Armageddon and World Party.

Also who here thinks Worms is a kid game? It's legitimacy a fun turn based strategy game. Or at least was.
