get some cheap third party ones to hold you over, then when the new ones come out relegate the third party ones to other uses.Very disappointed. Honestly, this is what I was most looking forward to since it’s the only thing I actually need right now and don’t want to buy more old ones when the new ones are coming “soon.”
I dunno about putting it on your keychain but Elevation Labs makes this:honestly i think they are struggling to come up with enough new features to justify the "2".
it's a tracking tag not an iphone. what can they add? better range? i've never had a problem with the range. i do get making it more tamper resistant to deter stalkers.
what would make me ditch all my current AirTags for a new model would be longer battery life. I know it sounds silly but I'd love if they released a slightly bigger AirTag that allowed a larger battery. Give me an AirTag Ultra/Pro Max!
All I use them for is putting on my keys, in a suitcase or on my bike. I'd buy a chunky AirTag for my bike that is powered by a 9V battery lol. Even a AA battery sized AirTag would be great.
I'd even go as far as accepting a non replaceable battery (or at least not as easy to replace as the CR2032) and charge it with my magsafe charger. It would be so much more convenient to just stick it on my Watch charger for a bit.
The CR2032 is just too weak. I feel like I'm constantly replacing the batteries.
This is software, but how about the ability to make it beep more than 3 times when you're looking for it? And how about making the beep less impossible for human ears to locate? And how about adding the ability to make it beep when it's outside bluetooth range, so I can get better use out of the airtag "watches" I gave my kids. I want to be able to hit that beep and have them run home. As it is it's nice to be able to know where they might be but being able to page them would be very nice.honestly i think they are struggling to come up with enough new features to justify the "2".

the latter would be possible but none of this would be real time. it would only happen once detected and instructed by a nearby iphone seeing its beacon. even so this wouldnt even require a new airtag, just changes in ios, airtag firmware and findmy backend. This is software, but how about the ability to make it beep more than 3 times when you're looking for it? Haha yeah just 5-6 more years, maybethe latter would be possible but none of this would be real time. it would only happen once detected and instructed by a nearby iphone seeing its beacon. even so this wouldnt even require a new airtag, just changes in ios, airtag firmware and findmy backend.
that said, these are good ideas but i dont see this as features users are pining for. plus soon enough your kids will have/want apple watches. then you can contact them directly.
protip, hit the reseller sites like gazelle or backmarket.Haha yeah just 5-6 more years, maybeIn the meantime it would be nice to have a way to do it that didn't cost $400 per kid and a monthly fee....
