Very disappointed. Honestly, this is what I was most looking forward to since it’s the only thing I actually need right now and don’t want to buy more old ones when the new ones are coming “soon.”

Extremely disappointing that an upgraded AirTag wasn’t announced today (Sept. 9th). I guess the Apple Rumor Mills just flat got this one wrong. It wouldn’t take Apple this long to update and announce a next gen AirTag had they really planned to. Low price items like AirTags would need a quick turnaround on a refresh to financially justify doing it all. I think the idea of a gen 2 AirTag is dead in the water. Probably too much low much low cost competition in the market.

There’s a lot that was rumoured to be announced today, but Apple won’t want to dilute the event with anything other than iPhone and Watch announcements. They’ll either be announced in October or just dropped via a press release along with the HomePod and Apple TV updates

get some cheap third party ones to hold you over, then when the new ones come out relegate the third party ones to other uses.

nice to see all the different designs and how easy they are to modify.

honestly i think they are struggling to come up with enough new features to justify the "2".

it's a tracking tag not an iphone. what can they add? better range? i've never had a problem with the range. i do get making it more tamper resistant to deter stalkers.

what would make me ditch all my current AirTags for a new model would be longer battery life. I know it sounds silly but I'd love if they released a slightly bigger AirTag that allowed a larger battery. Give me an AirTag Ultra/Pro Max!

All I use them for is putting on my keys, in a suitcase or on my bike. I'd buy a chunky AirTag for my bike that is powered by a 9V battery lol. Even a AA battery sized AirTag would be great.

I'd even go as far as accepting a non replaceable battery (or at least not as easy to replace as the CR2032) and charge it with my magsafe charger. It would be so much more convenient to just stick it on my Watch charger for a bit.

The CR2032 is just too weak. I feel like I'm constantly replacing the batteries.

I dunno about putting it on your keychain but Elevation Labs makes this:

I'd love to see the rumored better range and accuracy. I have one on my cat's collar and it's great to help keep track of her, but pretty glitchy at times accuracy-wise.
