That's horrible! Not surprising one bit. As said, thieves are after MONEY... iPhones have the best monetary value.

I'd like to be able to enable a GPS on my phone that can NEVER be disabled. Hand that one over and call the cops.

I am mad at you because that video made me watch an absolutely horrendous T-Mobile ad where two guys fight each other dressed up as 8-bit robots arguing about camera specs.

I'm even mad I had to type that sentence out.

+1 for making me laugh xD

Sounds like there's a market for cases that make iPhones look like BB or Android devices. :D

if the US had IMEI blocking, it would probably decrease mobile phone theft cause the thieves would just end up with a brick.

The US does have IMEI blocking. The carriers need to update the GSMA database though, and there is no motivation for them to do so.

You'd think Apple, Microsoft, RIM and Google would create phones that had security hardware that would make theft pointless (something that would brick stolen phones as soon as any updates (OS, songs, videos, apps) were requested). Certainly Apple can keep track of songs, apps, videos, podcasts in the hundreds of thousands if not millions, so why can't they come up with a mechanism that allows a user to register a phone and de-register it when a phone is sold or given as a gift? Would it be so hard then to have an option to register the phone as stolen? It sounds like they'll have to do this any way to fix the iMessage bug, so why not offer enhanced security as well?
