Was really looking forward to CarPlay in my 2016 Kia Optima. Got a software update from Kia about a month ago, and so far, I'm disappointed.

I'm a big Apple fan, but this they've just left lacking in the Music portion. Kia had a pretty good system with their UVO in my former 2012 Optima that allowed for voice selection of artist, album, etc, so I was hoping for something that would improve with Apple. However, I've taken several steps back:
  • No way to fast forward or rewind in a song
    • In the 2012 Kia with their UVO system (non-navigation version), you could touch the progress bar of the song and move the playback point
  • No memory of the navigation steps you took to get to a song
    • SO let's say you choose Artist/Adele/25/Hello. That song starts playing.
    • Now look at your Maps
    • Now go back to Now Playing
    • Hit Back
    • You're now at the main menu..it's forgotten the breadcrumb trail of how you got to that song.
  • Inconsistency with the display of cover art
    • My Kia will display the album art when I have it in Kia Mode, but when I go into CarPlay, and view Now Playing, the album art usually is not displayed. If it is, it is a VERY faint image behind the display
  • Requirement to be plugged in
    • For long trips, I'd always plug the phone in, but for short trips around town, it's a hassle to always have to pull the phone out of your pocket and plug it in. I'm getting pretty fast at it, but still, they really need to perfect the wireless feature (and then I"m holding my breath that the Kia will support it! :-(
Not sure how many of these annoyances are Kia specific, but my understanding is that CarPlay feature is purely driven by the phone so I would think it'd be consistent across implementations?

I do enjoy the reading and responding to texts though.
