This is for all portable mac users really.
What is you battery health like?

I have a 2010 macbook with the original main battery.
It is 6.3 years old and health of 89% (335 cycles)
I can still reliably get 4 or more hours from it depending on use.

How many windows laptops still can do that if left plugged in like mine!
seems apples like being used plugged in and windows machines prefer to be used on battery often.

So what is everyones battery like?
age/health etc?

I'm genuinely curious as they seem very good, which again is what your paying for not the cheap crap in windows laptops.

Apple doesn't make anything, they outsource the production to Chinese manufacturers.

maybe true but they still design it (usually) and other cheap batteries never last the same so there is a difference still!

For a proper comparison among batteries, I believe you need to consider the fact that apple batteries start off being bigger to begin with.

Considering the premium paid for apple products, I would expect better than average battery performance.

I'm surprised a mac battery still holding good charge after 6.3 years.

not a single windows laptop I owned kept a good charge beyond year to year and half.
Most my laptops spent 90% life plugged in.

Yes apple batteries cost alot more than say a toshiba one.
but how it's managed by the software/hardware must be pretty clever for such a lifespan!

if apple can, why not say toshiba or dell, etc

Apple hardware and software are closed systems while windows is made to run on machines from several different manufacturers. Apple is in a position to optimise hardware for its operating system while "windows" manufacturers have to do their own optimisations and this may be a partial explanation.

You are fortunate to have the battery last as long as it does. Is this a common finding among apple owners? I don't know.

seems to be from my finding of local users.

sold friends 2009/2010 macbooks I sourced from web.
6 to 7 year old batteries still over 80% health and giving 4 hours plus run time!

I have a soft spot for these A1342 models.
Not super fast, but super reliable!
